Flats & maisonettes in Northolt

Flats and maisonettes across UB5 — external stairs, shared landings, newer blocks and flats above the parades.

Northolt is maisonette country, and a maisonette is not a flat with extra steps. It is a different day, and the difference is entirely outdoors.

Inside or outside

Most maisonettes here put the stair on the outside of the building, rising to a first-floor front door, often with a shared landing below. Every carton and every piece of furniture is carried outdoors before it is carried indoors.

That changes three things, all of which we price for:

  • What needs covering, and when — weather stops being a footnote
  • Where the vehicle stands, because the carry starts at the foot of the stair
  • How many people the job takes, because a wardrobe on an outdoor stair is a two-person item at best

What we ask before pricing

  • Internal stair or external
  • How tight the turn is, and whether there is a half-landing
  • Whether the entrance or landing is shared
  • Where a vehicle can stand relative to the door

Newer blocks and the parades

The newer stock around the station and the redeveloped sites has loading bays and lifts — easy days with a booking requirement attached. Flats above the parades have a shared street door and restrictions outside, which an early start and an agreed loading point solves.

Flat move questions

What is the first question?

Whether the stair is inside or outside. Everything else follows from that answer.

Why does an external stair matter so much?

Because every item is carried outdoors before it is carried indoors. That changes what gets covered, where the vehicle stands, and what happens if it rains.

Are the newer blocks easier?

Physically yes — bays, lifts, proper communal doors. They usually want the move booked in advance, which is paperwork rather than difficulty.

What about flats above the parades?

Shared street door, a stair fitted around the business below, restrictions outside. An early start covers it.

Is communal protection included?

Yes. Your neighbours did not agree to your move; the edges get protection and the route stays passable.
